Mark your calendars! The acclaimed Czech film Waves (Vlny) will be screened as part of the European Union Film Festival in Toronto.

Set against the turmoil of Prague Spring 1968, Waves follows Tomáš, a young man who joins the international editorial office of Czechoslovak Radio hoping to make a difference. When a compromising recording surfaces, the journalists find themselves hunted by the secret police. Torn between protecting his younger brother and standing up for the truth, Tomáš must choose between safety and conscience.

Directed by Jiří Mádl, Waves was selected as the Czech Republic’s submission for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards and won the Audience Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
